Lisitsite Rope Bridge
Welcome to one of the most exciting places in the Rhodope Mountains – the "Foxes" Rope Bridge! If you think walking on a rope bridge is something you only see in movies – think again! This bridge is the longest rope bridge in Bulgaria, stretching over the waters of Studen Kladenets Dam, and is the connection to the village of Lisitsite – a small, charming village with only a few inhabitants that seems frozen in time. Crossing the bridge is an adventure in itself, and we promise you that every step is worth it!
Where is it?
The "Lisitsite" rope bridge is located near Kardzhali and connects the village of Shiroko pole with the remote hamlet of Lisitsite. To get there, the easiest route is by car to the village of Shiroko pole, where you can park. Then a short hike awaits you to the bridge – about 30 minutes on foot, along picturesque trails with views of the dam and the surrounding hills. Once you reach the bridge, you'll feel the adrenaline – it's over 260 meters long, and below you are the calm waters of the Studen Kladenets Dam.

One of the most curious legends about the bridge is connected to the village's name – Lisitsite (meaning "The Foxes"). According to local tradition, in the past, the area was inhabited by many foxes, which often crossed the river precisely at the spot where the bridge now stands. Local residents even claim that foxes can still be seen in the vicinity, especially early in the morning or at sunset, as they quietly roam the fields.
