Kabile — the ancient Thracian city near Yambol

Kabile is one of the most significant archaeological sites in Bulgaria — an ancient Thracian city situated on a sacred hill, revealing layers of history spanning over 2000 years. It's a place where you can see real streets, baths, buildings, fortress walls, and sanctuaries, preserved from Antiquity to the present day.

Location and How to Get There

Kabile is located just 7–8 km from the city of Yambol, on the road to Kermen and Sliven. The area is well-marked, and the entrance is accessible via an asphalt road with convenient parking.

After entering the archaeological reserve, visitors can start their tour at the museum, which houses artifacts from the Thracian, Roman, and Early Christian periods, and then proceed along the marked paths to the excavations.

  • The Sanctuary on "Zaychi Vrah" hill — believed to be the site where the cult of the Great Mother Goddess and the goddess Cybele was practiced.
