Canyon of Waterfalls

🌿 Introduction

The Canyon of Waterfalls is an eco-trail built in 2003 and renovated in 2013, located in the Soskovcheto Reserve near Smolyan. Here you will find over 40 waterfalls, among which the most impressive is Orpheus, with a water drop of about 70 meters. The trail is well-maintained, with bridges, railings, and viewing platforms, making it accessible for nature lovers of all ages.


🚗 How to Get There

The start of the eco-trail is easily accessible:

  • From Smolyan, take the road towards Mugla village.

  • After a few kilometers, there is a turn-off to the right, which leads to the entrance of the route.

  • There are signposts, and locals can always guide you if you are unsure.


🕒 How Much Time You'll Need

  • Route length: about 4.8 km.

  • Duration: an average of 4 hours round trip.

  • Difficulty: moderate – there is an elevation gain of about 449 m, but the trail is secured. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, because although not too strenuous, the hike requires endurance.
