Slivodolsko Padalo is the highest waterfall in the Rhodope Mountains – a true natural spectacle that is worth every step of the trail leading to it. The walk takes about an hour and offers coolness, greenery, and unforgettable views.

🌿 Introduction

Slivodolsko Padalo is located in the Western Rhodopes, within the "Chervenata Stena" (Red Wall) Reserve, not far from Bachkovo village and Bachkovo Monastery. The waterfall is about 49–50 meters high, making it the highest in the Rhodopes. It was declared a natural landmark in 2005 and is among the most picturesque spots in the region.

🚶 How to get there

An eco-trail leads to the waterfall, starting from two main points:

  • Marzigunitsa Hut – from here, the hike is about an hour of leisurely walking.

  • After the tunnel of Bachkovo village – the trail begins on the left side, following the course of the Slivov Dol River.

The trail is relatively easy and passes through a shaded forest, making it pleasant both in summer and winter. In spring, when the water flow is at its fullest, the view is particularly impressive.
