Nestled high in the mountains, like a jewel hidden in the embrace of peaks and rocky ridges, the lake is both rugged and fairytale-beautiful. Route

🚡 The Beginning: The Lift from Dobrinishte to Bezbog Hut

Your adventure begins with the lift from Gotse Delchev Hut (1412 m) to Bezbog Hut (2236 m). The journey is pleasant and offers a magnificent panoramic view of Pirin. As soon as you step off the lift, you will feel that you are already in "another reality" – a place where the air is crystal clear and the horizon is made of peaks.

📍 From Bezbog Hut (2236 m) to Bezbog Lake (2230 m)

The first minutes of the trek are easy and picturesque – the path runs along the beautiful Bezbog Lake. This place is great for a short stop for a photo or just to catch your breath. After the lake, a gentle ascent begins through low juniper and grassy areas.

⛰️ The Path to Popovo Lake and the Turn-off for Tevno

After about 40–50 minutes of walking, you will reach a fork in the road. The main path continues to the right towards Popovo Lake, but you take a left, following the sign for Tevno Lake. From here, the route starts to become a bit more mountainous – with a slight ascent and descent, varied terrain, and great views.

🌲 Through Rocky Sections and Grassy Ridges

You continue along the stony path, which passes through rock slabs and grassy meadows. There are no serious technical sections, but in places the terrain is more unstable, so sturdy shoes are a must. Along the way, you will see beautiful views of peaks such as Dzhanov and Valyavishki Chukar.

💧 The Trek Past Malo Tevno Lake

Before reaching the large Tevno Lake, you pass by a smaller one, hidden like a mirror among the rocks – Malo Tevno Lake. It's great for a short break. From here, about 30–40 minutes remain until the final destination.

🏔️ The Final Stretch – Tevno Lake Appears (2512 m)

After the last ascent and reaching a saddle, the magnificent view of Tevno Lake suddenly unfolds before you – a true mountain oasis, nestled between peaks and surrounded by silence. On its northern shore is also located Tevno Ezero Hut, which looks as if it has stepped out of a mountain fairy tale.

What not to miss

The view at sunrise and sunset – Tevno Lake shines in a completely different way in the golden light.

A walk around the lake – short but full of
panoramic views.

Mozgovishki Chukar Peak – for the more advanced,
who want to peek at even greater heights.

The hut by the lake – cozy and welcoming,
it is also a great option for an overnight stay if you decide to stay for more than
one day.

Fun fact

According to an old legend, a dragon, guardian of the mountain treasure, dwelled in the dark depths of Lake Tevnoto. People said the lake never froze completely because the dragon's breath warmed the water even during the coldest winters. And sometimes, on particularly quiet nights, the water could be heard "speaking"... Was it the wind? Or was the dragon still slumbering beneath the surface? No one knows – but it doesn't hurt to listen for yourself. 😉
