The Womb

Where is it?
Utroba Cave is located about 20 km from the town of Kardzhali, in the direction of the village of Zhenda. After leaving your car by the road (there is no designated parking), a hike of about 3 km along a well-marked trail follows. The trail will lead you through wooded areas and rocky slopes, revealing an incredible view of the Rhodope Mountains. Prepare comfortable shoes, a bottle of water, and a readiness for inspiration.
What shouldn't we miss?
As you ascend, notice the picturesque nature and the inspiring atmosphere that surrounds you. Entering the cave itself, be sure to notice the womb-like shape and the reflections of light that seem to reveal magical symbols on the walls. This natural light illusion is best seen around noon, when the sun's ray glides inward and illuminates the center of the cave - a true spectacle of nature!
How long does it take
The whole adventure will take you between 2 and 3 hours. The path to the cave takes about 40-50 minutes one way, and once there, you will most likely want to stay for at least half an hour to soak in the atmosphere and take photos. The hike is moderately strenuous and suitable even for tourists with little experience.
