🌿 Sovata Waterfall – the hidden gem of the Provadia Plateau

Sovata Waterfall is one of the most interesting and beautiful natural sites in Northeastern Bulgaria. Located between the villages of Nenovo and Nevsha, it impresses with its height (around 15–20 meters), the lush greenery surrounding it all year round, and easy access. 🚗 How to get there

There are two main routes – both are easy and accessible.

1. Via Nenovo village (the most popular route)

  • Your navigation will lead you to the center of the village.
  • Continue right down the road.
  • There are signs, but they are hard to spot – use the large tree at the fork as a landmark.
  • The road takes you to the northern edge of the village, from where a short path to the waterfall begins.

The walk from the village to the waterfall is 15–20 minutes on foot.

2. Via Nevsha village (the more adventurous route)

  • Pass through the center of the village and turn towards the train station.
  • Shortly before it, turn off onto a dirt road.
  • Cross a small river over a concrete bridge, then the railway line.
  • After a wooden bridge (passable but old), the road leads you to the forest and the start of the path.

This route is longer but offers a wilder experience.

  • The trail: 15–25 minutes one way
  • Exploring and photos: 20–30 minutes

Total: about 1–1.5 hours, but if you love nature, you might stay longer.

⭐ The waterfall itself

Sovata is about 15–20 meters high and falls in several levels.
In spring and after rain, it is at its fullest and most impressive.
In summer, the greenery literally "engulfs" it, giving it a fairytale appearance.
