Where is it?
Devil's Bridge is located approximately 10 km northwest of the town of Ardino, nestled amidst the beautiful landscapes of the Western Rhodopes. The most convenient way to get there is by car. Follow the road to Ardino and then the signs to the bridge. In the last few kilometers, you'll drive along a narrow mountain road, so drive carefully – not only because of the sharp turns, but also because each turn reveals an even more impressive view of the wild nature.
If you're a fan of hiking, you can also set off on foot from Ardino along a well-marked eco-trail that will lead you to the bridge amidst the fresh air of the Rhodopes.
What not to miss
Besides admiring the Devil's Bridge, be sure to take a stroll along the banks of the Arda River. The sight of the bridge reflected in the crystal-clear waters is like a painting from another era. For photographers, there are countless opportunities for unique shots here – especially at sunset, when the light gives the stone bridge golden hues.
Also, don't forget to look under the bridge! There's a legend that you'll see the "face of the Devil" reflected in the water there, but let that remain a secret until you see it for yourself. If you're lucky, you might even hear one of the locals recount their version of the bridge's mystical history.
If you are a fan of extreme experiences, the cave is also a popular spot for bungee jumping. Imagine jumping right into the heart of this natural cathedral! Even if you don't jump, the sight alone will make you feel the adrenaline.
If you continue along the path after the cave, after about 20 minutes of walking, you will reach the "Saint Marina" Rock Monastery.
How long does it take
The walk to the bridge and back will take you about 1 to 2 hours, depending on whether you choose to go on foot or by car. If you want to enjoy the place more fully and explore the surroundings, set aside about 3-4 hours. If you like picnics, the area around the bridge is ideal for a short break in nature, so grab something to eat and make the experience even more enjoyable!
Fun fact
According to legend, the bridge's builder made a deal with the Devil to construct such a sturdy structure. The legend states that the devil's soul was "locked" in the bridge, specifically in its reflection in the water. If you look closely, you'll see a face in the shadows under the bridge – but don't worry, it's just a trick of the light and your imagination… or is it?
