The "Slana Voda – Kozya Voda" Eco-Trail is one of the newest and most impressive walking destinations in the Iskar Gorge – a circular route that combines wild nature, panoramic views, and a sense of adventure.
Introduction and How to Get There
The trail starts above the village of Opletnya, located about 66 km north of Sofia and 24 km from Svoge. The village is reached by the scenic road through the Iskar Gorge, with two turn-offs from the main road – the more convenient one is from Svoge. The beginning of the route is well-marked, and the eco-trail itself is clear and signposted, making it accessible for both hikers and mountain biking enthusiasts.
What Not to Miss

- Panoramic views of Kobilini Steni – impressive vertical cliffs that rise above the gorge.
- Picturesque forest sections – the trail passes through shady forests and open meadows, ideal for photos and short breaks.
- The circular route – approximately 9 km long, which brings you back to the starting point without having to retrace your steps.
How Much Time to Allocate
The entire hike takes about 4 hours at a relaxed pace. The route is suitable for spring, summer, and early autumn, when nature is most picturesque. In winter, it can be more difficult due to snow and icy sections.
