Red Beds
The Red Sands near Komshtitsa are one of the most unusual natural sites in Western Bulgaria. The area impresses with its vivid red rocks and sandy slopes, which look like a small desert, hidden among the mountain hills. The place is quiet, almost unknown, and gives the feeling of having entered a completely different world.
Where is it located?
The Red Sands are located near the village of Komshtitsa, Godech municipality, right next to the Serbian border. The site is reached via an asphalt road, with the last hundred meters on a dirt road, but accessible for any car. Parking is available near the start of the red section, followed by a short walk on the sand.
The area is isolated and very peaceful – perfect for people who want to see something different, far from popular tourist routes.

- The Contrast with the Green Hills – unique colors, especially in strong sunlight.
